How does Stacey's English tuition work?
Tuition takes place online via Zoom. Pupils attend a one-hour lesson each week, taught live by Stacey.
Which year groups do you teach?
Weekly tuition is available for pupils in Years 7–11, with Year 6 tuition available from the Summer Term. Pupils are taught in classes exclusively for their own year group. GCSE English Language and Literature are taught from Year 9.
How are the lessons structured?
Each lesson begins with an interactive masterclass, where Stacey teaches the main content and pupils are encouraged to participate throughout. During part of the lesson, pupils move into small working groups to discuss and apply what they have learnt. They then return to the masterclass for whole-class feedback.
How do you monitor my child’s progress?
Understanding is checked regularly throughout the lesson through questioning and participation. Weekly homework also allows Stacey to track each pupil’s individual progress.
Is homework set and marked?
Yes. Homework is set weekly through Google Classroom and marked with individual feedback and targets. Parents are encouraged to regularly monitor their child’s Google Classroom account.
What additional resources are available?
Pupils have access to a dedicated Student Area containing additional English resources and revision materials to support their learning outside lessons.
Which exam boards do you cover?
All major GCSE exam boards are covered, including AQA, Edexcel, OCR and Eduqas. Edexcel International GCSE (IGCSE) is also covered. Please note that Cambridge (CIE) IGCSE is not covered.
Do you offer 1:1 tuition?
No. Stacey specialises exclusively in group tuition and does not offer 1:1 lessons.
Do you offer trial lessons?
No. Stacey does not offer trial lessons, as a single lesson does not give pupils enough opportunity to settle into the tuition and benefit fully from it. Places are therefore booked for a full half term rather than individual lessons.
All new pupils are invited to a free online ‘Meet & Greet’ before they begin, giving them the opportunity to meet Stacey and find out more about the tuition.
What happens if my child misses a lesson?
Where possible, pupils can catch up in another class for their year group within the same week. If this isn’t possible, the missed work can be sent for independent completion. Fees for missed lessons cannot be refunded or carried over.
How much does tuition cost and how are fees paid?
Tuition is £13 per lesson and fees are paid in advance for each half term. An invoice is sent by email approximately 10–14 days before payment is due. New and rejoining pupils also pay a one-off £20 registration and administration fee.
